Thank you for joining us for next Saturday’s expo in beautiful Santa Barbara, Calif. We are very excited about this event.  Below is some information that will help you prepare for the expo. Please review, thank you.

SETUP TIME: PLEASE BE THERE BY 8:15 am TO SET UP, THANK YOU.

The Fess Parker Santa Barbara Hotel – A DoubleTree by Hilton Resort

EXHIBITOR/SPONSOR DETAILS:

Our event will feature a six foot vendor booth with a white tablecloth. Speakers please bring your presentation on a USB flash drive to make it easy for us. Daniel Ringwald, director of the SBREIA, will be assisting speakers. Dan will provide the projector, Laptop Computer Windows 7, you can bring a Mac and we can make that work, Memory Stick, Sound, and Linda has arranged for a Screen.

Speakers: You may also utilize your own computer for your presentation.
Please be sure to leave the floor when your time is up so that we do not cause a delay or go off schedule. We have many speakers and have a lot of information to share. Our goal is for guests to mingle with you directly by visiting you at your company’s booth.

SET-UP & TEAR DOWN FOR EXPO:
Our event starts at 9 am, please begin to set up by 8:15 am. Even if our guests don’t arrive until later, this free time creates a perfect opportunity to network with the many sponsors we have to increase your business contacts.

Who is Reggie Brooks?

Growing up poor in LA

My brother and I were raised by a single mom in Los Angeles. We lived in poverty, and there was never enough money. People who are well off have a hard time understanding how bad things can be for those who grow up poor. We knew what it was like to have nothing to eat at night and to go to bed with our stomachs growling. We knew what it was like to walk to school every morning because we didn’t have money for the bus. We had holes in our shoes. We put newspapers in our shoes so we wouldn’t get holes in our socks. The neighborhood was bad, and most of the people who lived there had hit rock bottom through alcohol, drugs, and crime. Few kids ever escaped but I had a dream, and dreams can come true.

Eat, Drink, and Go Green in 2014! Before 2016 ?

There is a real possibility that the Federal rebates for solar could end in 2016 or sooner for CA.   There are a couple good reasons for this.  We all know the Federal government has NO MONEY and will be raising our taxes and reducing spending.  Another reason?  The Federal government cannot kick-start a few states like CA, FL, OR, forever.  They eventually have to move on to other states because they don’t have the money for every state at the same time and how fair would it be if they didn’t move on.  States like NV, NM, and a few other sun states will be next for rebates.  If you think the cost of solar will go down you are right!  When the rebates go away the price will increase by 30% and go right back up along with the continued climb in utilities prices.

If your current electric bill is only $80 a month and you think you can wait, you are not adding up all your energy bills, gas for your home that could be replaced by Far Infrared Heating, gas for your car which could be replaced by an electric car.  Do that math and see.  This is a no-brainer.  You don’t have to spend your days working this system to make sure it makes or saves you money.  Once it is set up you can forget about it and let it do its job day after day.  Let the sun pay for it.

Lisi is a partner and valuation specialist at American ValueMetrics Corporation providing analytically sound, market based, legally defensible business valuation reports that meet USPAP and NACVA industry standards as well as regulatory requirements for the IRS, ERISA and DOL for privately held businesses.
Mr. Lisi has an MBA from UC Irvine and a BSIE from the University of Michigan and has been valuing businesses with American ValueMetrics since 2004. He began his career in aerospace manufacturing and marketing, and in 1991 was selected as a delegate to exchange business management information with companies in Russia, Latvia and Estonia following the fall of the Berlin Wall. He became responsible for strategic planning activities for his division in a Fortune 100 company in 1992. In 2001, he was hired as a consultant by a private equity firm to support the initial strategic planning effort following their acquisition of a $50 million aerospace firm. In 1997, he acquired his own company and led it for fifteen years before joining American ValueMetrics full time. He is also active on several non-profit boards of directors, where he has served as board president, executive secretary, treasurer and finance chair.

Personal note: I’ve been friends with founder Jerry Barney for over 15 years and was active in American ValueMetrics’ start in 2003. The team at AVM brings CEO insight, M&A, VC and legal experience to its valuations in a way that provides a superior tool to privately held firms.

I’m excited to move into this work full-time. It’s a growing field as private equity displaces IPOs for growth-stage funding and new IRS reporting requirements create a need for our services.
